Jewish community leaders have warned the government that antisemitic behaviour is becoming “normalised” on London’s streets after two men were stabbed in a Jewish area of north London on Wednesday (29 April). “We are allowing an atmosphere to prevail on our streets of London, which is making the Jews feel that this type of behaviour is becoming normalised,” Louise Jacobs, vice chair of the Jewish Leadership Council, told The Independent. Ms Jacobs said the community was “grateful” to the government for giving the community more money to build walls at synagogues and schools, but warned it was a“sticking plaster” over what is a much bigger problem. A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the attack in Golders Green, the Metropolitan Police said.
